SpVgg Greuther Fürth has secured the services of talented goalkeeper Florian Hellstern. The 18-year-old comes on loan from VfB Stuttgart and aims to prove himself in the 2. Bundesliga. Florian Hellstern was loaned to the 2. Bundesliga club for a season. SpVgg Greuther Fürth's sports director, Daniel Meyer, said: «Florian is probably the most exciting goalkeeper talent in Germany. Despite his young age, he convinces with great presence and brings a lot of experience from League 3 as well as a lot of match practice». Other clubs were also interested in the goalkeeper of the German U19 team. Due to the European Championship participation, he will not be present at the start of training in Fürth on July 1. The young goalkeeper himself said: «The second league is a perfect opportunity for me to prove myself at a higher level. I have a huge desire for this challenge and appreciate the trust in me very much». Young goalkeeper talents have a tradition in Fürth. Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig kept the Fürth goal in the 2023/24 season. A season later, Hoffenheim loanee Nahuel Noll was his successor. In the difficult past season, the Franconians had wished for more consistency in goal. Pelle Boevink, Tim Schlieck, and Silas Prüfrock had a hard time - partly also due to injuries. Hellstern is supposed to continue the path to success. At the end of April 2026, Hellstern extended his contract with VfB long-term, and in the coming season, he will wear the Fürth jersey. VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth said: «The loan to Greuther Fürth in the 2. Bundesliga now offers him perfect conditions to take the next career steps in an ambitious environment». SpVgg Greuther Fürth hopes that Florian Hellstern will put an end to the goalkeeper problems of the past season. The 18-year-old will prove in the coming season whether he has what it takes to become the new number one of SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
